INAM Philippines
The Integrative Medicine for Alternative Healthcare Systems Philippines Inc. (INAM) evolved from the Acupuncture Therapeutic and Research Center, Inc. (ATRC), founded in 1984. Initially focused on traditional Chinese medicine, ATRC trained community health workers and professionals in acupuncture, helping deliver essential services to underserved areas. In 2001, INAM expanded its curriculum to include acupuncture and tui na massage therapy under Philippine Integrative Medicine (PIM), promoting alternative healthcare in the national system.
The Traditional and Alternative Medicine Act (RA 8423) institutionalized alternative healthcare, ensuring access and quality for Filipinos. INAM, alongside the Philippine Institute for Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC), has established competency standards in acupuncture and tui na, empowering community health workers and fostering collaboration between traditional and modern healthcare practitioners. This partnership strengthens integrated healing practices and contributes to sustainable healthcare systems for impoverished communities.
